I just finished the book! It is so good!! My favorite character is Bree. Bree has always supressed the real her, and learns to be who she really is, not just popular. I really like the way the book is from different points of view. It helps you understand the story better, as well as each individual character. Melanie and Kenny are perfect for each other, just saying. I think Jack underestimates himself. He doesn't know how smart he is or how much talent he has until he arrives at Moon Shadow. He could have easily avoided summer school, though. Bree's family should totally keep the unusuals going, I'll be disappointed if they don't.
Anyways, this is getting long. I really enjoyed the book. See ya in 6th Marie Smith
Marie, You go girl! You are a fast reader! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I agree with you, Bree was my favorite character too. Why do you think she is usally most people's favorite?
I hope you have jumped into another book!! What are you reading now? Mrs. Leming
I just finished a book called Juliet Dove, Queen Of Love. It's about a girl who finds a magical store taken over by the goddess of Chaos who gives Juliet a locket with cupid locked inside. Juliet has to free cupid, but not without challenges created by the goddess of Chaos herself.
I think Bree is most people's favorite character because she changes in her personality so much. At times it was a challenge to keep up with what she was doing, but the challenge made me like her a bit more. I also think it is because some people can relate to her. Bree hides who she really is to be popular or to be someone she really wasn't.
That Book sounds awesome! I've really been loving having a lot of extra time to read!! I re-read "Every Soul a Star" and now I'm reading a great non-fiction book called "Blink"!
I really like what you said about Bree. Isn't it neat how authors can create characters with so many layers that they seem real? I'm so glad you liked the book!
Marie, I totally agree about keeping the Unusuals going. I would like to use some of them. I totally agree with everything else you said about everyone. Sounds like you liked the book! I did, too. See ya! Katherine Lewis
I get confused when there is a chapter where something happens from one person's point of view and then it happens in like the next person's point of view.
Plus if you haven't noticed this by now (you probably have), each character has a symbol and that symbol is at the beginning of the chapter. There is a key at the beginning of the book too!
I loved the book . I wish this was a series so i could keep reading about what happens after Bree moves in at the camp and Ally when she moves to the city
Anonymous, Who are you? :) I agree with Marie. Maybe not a whole book, but a paragraph for each character telling what you predict they are doing now. That would be cool to post here!
I am not that far along, but I love the book! I like how it features 3 main characters. It helps to tell their emotions and what they are going through.
Yeah, this is a pretty good book. My favorite character is Ally. Bree seems kind of rude to me, like she thinks she's better than everyone. Maybe I'll like her better at the end? I don't know. Oh yeah, Hi Maddie!
Laura, I think your perspective of Bree might change. Although I do like Ally too! It's neat to dig deeper in the characters and also realize that all people are like onions; we all have lots of layers!! Keep reading and let us know how your perspective changes!
Hello to my new awesome 6th graders!! I hope everyone has enjoyed their first days of summer!! I'm super proud of those of you who have already started reading their book, and especailly those of you who are blogging here!!! Here's a question for you to answer: Why do you predict (if you haven't read the book yet) or why do you think (if you have read the book) the title of our book means? Can't wait to hear what you think!
I think the title means that the 3 kids in the book each have something special in them. It doesn't matter if you don't have a talent. But each characters personality is important. Can't wait to meet you in 6th Mrs.Leming!:) ~Natalie Jordan
I enjoyed the book at the middle because that's when I understood why the author (Wendy mass) put each chapter about one of the characters. I didnt understand it at first because it talked about how bree was all pretty And ally ran the campground and etc. at the end I saw how everyone came together and watched the eclipse.
Part two of that comment: (sorry it wouldn't let me type anymore into the box). I would love to read a sequel that tells about there life after they move. Hopefully she wrktes a sequel. Maybe maybe not. Anyway it was a very good book. I enjoyed reading it. See you in sixth! 😊
The book was great! When I started reading this book, I commented to myself of how the 3 kids are all grouped together as 1 chapter. I added every chapter and the book came out to be 21 chapters. Anyway, I liked how the author brought Bree, Jack, and Ally together at Moon Shadow. (The campsite)
The Eclipse did change the 3 kids in a way. Ally never thought that she would have real friends. The only (not so true) friends were the three stars she'd see every night. Without the Eclipse, Ally wouldn't have made friends with Bree and Jack.
Bree got used to the camp and new things that she would have to face in the future once she moved to Moon Shadow. She now likes the place a lot. If not of the Eclipse, she wouldn't meet her friends who helped her get used to the place.
Having lunch right now. I have to go but I'll be back to talk about Jack. Bye!:) - Natalie Jordan
Hey Natalie! What do you think about Ally's star friends? I kind-of thought they were based on Ally Bree and Jack in a way. The three of them may have become friends using their telescopes! :) I'm excited to see your point of view on Jack! :) -Marie
Hi Marie! About Jack, He wanted to get over Summer School by visiting Moon Shadow. If not of the Eclipse, Jack wouldn't have made much confidence in himself for facing school the next year. He also made new friends.
Now about the question you were asking.;) I didn't think about how the stars could represent Ally,Jack, and Bree. And that would be cool if the 3 could become friends by using telescopes. I know one thing though, surely Bree and Jack wouldn't have telescopes.:) Anyway, thanks for replying my blog about the book Marie. Hope we can communicate through this in the future.:) Bye! ~Natalie
Bree “Bye Ally!”, I called after her car loaded with all of their worldly belongings. Maybe running Moon Shadow wouldn’t be so bad. The place was starting to grow on me. I even asked if I could take care of the labyrinth. Sure, we would have to leave in a few years and I could go back to Claire, but somehow it wouldn’t be the same. For now, life was good.
Jack I put my duffel bag on the bus and said goodbye to Ally and Bree. Ally looked me in the eyes and made me promise to not fail science. I promised not to. I looked around moon shadow one more time and then climbed up onto the bus. I no longer felt awkward and dumb. I felt…confident? I savored the feeling as I walked to the seat in the back of the bus
Ally “Get in the car lets go!” yells mom. “Okay, just a second” I yell down at her. I looked around at my empty room while I finish tying my shoelaces. Maybe living in the city wouldn’t be so bad. I stand up and walk down the stairs. Bree is waiting at the bottom of the stairs to say goodbye. We chat for a bit and then mom tells me that we had to leave. I get in the car and wave goodbye not only to Bree, but to the whole campground. This was just another chapter in the book of life. I promised myself silently to never stop reading until it was over , you never know when the plot twist is coming.
This is my prediction on how their lives will turn out after the end of the book. I hope you liked it! See ya in 6th Marie Smith
Hello, AMAZING PEOPLE!! Mrs. Leming, aren't they incredible??? I have loved reading each analysis of the characters...told you it was good. I appreciate your individual perspectives and am looking forward to the sequels written by you!! Love you bunches!!
Hi! It's Katherine Lewis. I am almost done with the book and am really enjoying it. It is very descriptive and leaves you hanging as the chapter changes to the next person. I have been looking out at the stars lately because of Ally, wanting to draw more because of Jack, and liking clothes more because of Bree. It is one of my favorite books. I am not looking forward to the book ending! I am looking forward to the sixth grade!
I just finished the book! It is so good!!

ReplyDeleteLaura,
DeleteThat was confusing for me at first too! After I got the hang of it, I liked how you got to hear many different character's points of view!
Mrs. Leming
Plus if you haven't noticed this by now (you probably have), each character has a symbol and that symbol is at the beginning of the chapter. There is a key at the beginning of the book too!
DeleteYeah I saw that when I was on like page twenty. I like the star symbol. I actually did change my mind about Bree. She is actually nice :)
DeleteMe too. The book was not making sense at all until I got the hang of it. The different characters was a very good idea!
DeleteI loved the book . I wish this was a series so i could keep reading about what happens after Bree moves in at the camp and Ally when she moves to the city

That sounds like a good idea. I am a sucker for a good ending so I would in the sequel make Ally and Bree move back and Jack move closer. ;)
DeleteI read this book and it was really good. I read it yesterday and i finished it today

This book talks about three characters coming together and letting out who they really are. When you are yourself you shine-like a star!

Hi Mrs. Bond!
DeleteMrs. Bond, I am SO SO impressed!!!!! These kids must have had a GREAT 5th grade reading teacher!!! :)
DeleteMrs. Leming, I don't know about that...I feel very blessed to have had them. We sure had fun, and with you as their guide, the best is yet to come!!
DeleteHello, the great incredible Marie!!!
DeleteHi Mrs. Bond! I miss you a lot!!!
ReplyDeleteHello, Laura, I miss you, too! I can't wait to see you in August!!

ReplyDeleteHi! It's Katherine Lewis. I am almost done with the book and am really enjoying it. It is very descriptive and leaves you hanging as the chapter changes to the next person. ReplyDeleteWell stated, Katherine! Miss you!
DeleteI just finished the book yesterday. I didn't understand the book at the beginning, but I started to understand it the rest of the book.
ReplyDeleteFinally someone else blogs! Was it just the sectioned chapters or was it something else?
DeleteI'm actually at the end of the book too. It was a challenge at the beginning to understand the book. I'm getting the hang of it as I continue to read.
